Description

A plan for a reorganization meeting for a Virginia Classis to held in 1835 was announced, but withdrawn during 1834. The Maryland Classis made arrangements towards a reorganization of a Virginia Classis at its 1838 meeting, which was approved by the (Eastern) Synod. The Classis was reorganized in August 1839 at Woodstock, VA. It became part of the Potomac Synod in 1873. In 1939 all of its churches were assigned to the Potomac Synod of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. Reports to the (Eastern) Synod from 1840-1872, and the Potomac Synod from 1873-1939.
